Last updated: April 5, 2026
1. Respect for Intellectual Property
Know This Artist respects the intellectual property rights of others. We comply with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and respond promptly to valid notices of claimed copyright infringement. If you believe that content on KnowThisArtist.com infringes your copyright, please follow the procedure below.
2. How to Submit a DMCA Takedown Notice
To submit a valid DMCA takedown notice, please send a written communication to our designated agent (see Section 4) that includes all of the following:
- Description of the copyrighted work — Identify the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed. If multiple works are covered by a single notice, a representative list is acceptable.
- URL of the infringing content — Provide the specific URL(s) on KnowThisArtist.com where the allegedly infringing material is located.
- Your contact information — Your full name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
- Good faith statement — A statement that you have a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- Accuracy statement — A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.
- Signature — A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf.
Notices that are materially incomplete or do not meet the above requirements may not be acted upon. Submitting a false or fraudulent DMCA notice may expose you to liability under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).
3. Counter-Notification Process
If you believe your content was removed or disabled as a result of a mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notification. A valid counter-notification must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the material that was removed and the URL where it appeared before removal.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address, and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your judicial district (or, if outside the US, any judicial district in which Know This Artist may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who submitted the original takedown notice.
Upon receipt of a valid counter-notification, we will forward it to the original complainant. If the complainant does not notify us within 10–14 business days that they have filed a court action, we may restore the removed content at our discretion.
4. Designated DMCA Agent
Please send all DMCA takedown notices and counter-notifications to our designated agent:

Email: jay@whywhatmatters.com
Subject line: DMCA Takedown Notice
5. Repeat Infringer Policy
In accordance with the DMCA and other applicable law, Know This Artist maintains a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances, accounts of users who are deemed to be repeat infringers. We reserve the right to remove content and restrict access for any user who repeatedly infringes or is reasonably believed to repeatedly infringe the rights of copyright holders.
