By accessing or using KnowThisArtist.com ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and all applicable laws. These terms are a legal agreement between you and What What Matters ("we," "us," or "our"). If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Non-Commercial Educational Platform

Know This Artist is a free, non-commercial research and educational platform for the art community. It allows users to explore contemporary artists, artworks, exhibitions, and art fairs. The Service is provided at no cost to users.

Artist profiles may be claimed by verified artists or their authorized representatives. Claimed profiles allow the artist to manage and supplement their public information on the platform.

3. User Accounts

To access certain features, you must create an account using a valid email address and password via Supabase Auth. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity under your account.

You must provide accurate information when registering. Accounts may not be transferred or shared. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Scrape, crawl, or systematically download content from the Service without prior written permission
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Impersonate any artist, person, or entity
• Submit false or misleading information when claiming an artist profile
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
• Use data from this Service for commercial purposes without obtaining appropriate licenses from the original data sources

5. Data Sources and Disclaimer

Data displayed on this platform is sourced from publicly available APIs and open-access collections, including Artsy and The Metropolitan Museum of Art Open Access collection (available under a CC0 license).

Know This Artist is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to Artsy, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, or any other data source referenced on this platform. We do not claim ownership of any third-party data.

6. Data Accuracy Disclaimer

Information on this platform is provided on an "as-is" basis without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any data. You should independently verify information before relying on it for commercial or professional purposes.

7. Trademark Disclaimer

8. Artist Information and Right to Removal

This platform displays publicly available professional information about artists, including exhibition history, gallery affiliations, and biographical details, for educational and research purposes.

If you are an artist or authorized representative and wish to have your information removed or corrected, please contact us at jay@whywhatmatters.com. We will respond to valid removal requests within a reasonable timeframe.

9. Intellectual Property

The Know This Artist platform, including its design, code, and original editorial content, is owned by What What Matters and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our express written consent.

Content submitted by users (such as artist profile updates or claimed profile information) remains the property of the submitting party. By submitting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to display and distribute that content as part of the Service.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, What What Matters shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. Because the Service is provided free of charge, our total liability to you for any claims arising from these terms shall not exceed USD $100.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.
