Almost Empty

Thomas de Quincey wrote that “humani a mi nihil alienum puto” which means nothing human is strange to me. In the translation, the word puto, to think or consider, is missing. The reader is left wondering “nothing human is strange to him” or “he thinks nothing human is strange”.
